MEASUREMENTS AND PURCHASE DECISIONS
Check a supplied floor build-up against available height.
How can layer thicknesses be checked without selecting a floor assembly?
Use the matching calculator
Use this decision sequence
- Use installed thicknesses from your supplied assembly.
- Count repeated layers explicitly.
- Sum their thicknesses on one unit basis.
- Compare the total with measured available height and show either remaining clearance or excess.
Keep the quantities distinct
| Quantity or assumption | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Installed thickness | The thickness that belongs in the height sum. |
| Packaging thickness | May differ from the installed value. |
| Available height | A measured comparison input, not a compliance requirement. |
Worked comparison
Supplied layers of 20 mm and 15 mm total 35 mm. With 40 mm available, the remaining clearance is 5 mm. With 30 mm available, the same assembly would exceed it by 5 mm.
Check before using the estimate
A successful dimensional check does not establish substrate, moisture or assembly suitability.
All dimensions, product properties, prices and specifications in this example are illustrative arithmetic inputs. Use the values from your measured plan, selected product data sheet and supplier quote. This guide does not choose construction specifications or certify safety.
