Tile Layout and Packs calculator.
Count a straight tile grid for each room using actual tile dimensions and specified joints.
Your inputs
Measurement schematic, not to scale. Use your own dimensions and product specification.
Use measurements from your plan and properties from your chosen product. Any prefilled values are illustrative.

Formula and assumptions
How this calculation works.
Every grid position needs a tile; rows and columns round up before the purchase allowance. Rooms share the same selected tile and pack. Cut-off reuse is not optimised.
A worked example
Illustrative inputs only. Product properties and design dimensions are not recommendations for your project.
- Tile length
- 500 mm
- Tile width
- 500 mm
- Specified joint width
- 0 mm
- Tile orientation
- Length along room
- Tiles per pack
- 8
- Waste allowance
- 10 %
- Length
- 2 m
- Width
- 3 m
Tile packs to purchase: 4 packs
A narrow extra strip may require a whole row of tiles
Tile layout depends on section dimensions, tile dimensions, joint width and orientation. Pack rounding follows the estimated tile count; total area alone can conceal edge rows.
- Measure separate tiled sections and use the actual tile dimensions.
- Orientation and joint width are supplied choices; this tool does not prescribe an installation.
- Check layout and usable cuts independently; joint estimates do not guarantee that an offcut can be reused.
What changes when one measurement changes?
Using the worked example above, change only width from 3 to 4.1m. Product specifications and all other inputs stay the same.
Tile packs to purchase: 4 → 5packs
Both results are computed by the same current calculator engine. These are illustrative dimensions, not material or design recommendations.

The method uses your dimensions and supplied product properties. Software tests check arithmetic examples and validation; this does not establish professional review of a design. Read the calculation policy.
Before you purchase
Use dimensions from your plan and properties from your chosen product. Any design spacing, section or fixing pattern must already be specified.
