How to measure and order: membrane seams and details.
Which measurements and product data prevent quantity mistakes for this job?
Use the matching calculator
Use this decision sequence
- Measure seam runs and detail bands independently from the field area. Count junction patches and penetration blanks once.
- Record the selected tape length, sheet dimensions, permitted splice overlap and liquid product coverage. Obtain all details from your supplied specification.
- Run each matching calculation and keep different products as separate purchase items.
- Check whole packs, stock remnants and delivery rounding before placing an order.
Keep the quantities distinct
| Quantity or assumption | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Measured need | Measure seam runs and detail bands independently from the field area. Count junction patches and penetration blanks once. |
| Product basis | Record the selected tape length, sheet dimensions, permitted splice overlap and liquid product coverage. Obtain all details from your supplied specification. |
| Purchase rounding | Whole packs, rolls and stock lengths can exceed the exact material need. |
Worked comparison
Two continuous 6 m seams require two 10 m rolls. Adding two 0.5 m junction patches still fits those two rolls. The unused length is real stock, but a third continuous 6 m seam cannot be made from the two 3.5 m remnants without a permitted joint.
Check before using the estimate
Seam tape and flashing tape are not automatically interchangeable. The calculator does not approve waterproofing or flashing details.
All dimensions, product properties, prices and specifications in this example are illustrative arithmetic inputs. Use the values from your measured plan, selected product data sheet and supplier quote. This guide does not choose construction specifications or certify safety.
Sources and product references
References support the stated product-data distinction. All worked examples are independent illustrative arithmetic.
