MEASUREMENTS AND PURCHASE DECISIONS

Do not pool ridge lengths without checking cap cuts and overlaps.

Does the sum of short ridge runs prove a whole-piece purchase count?

Use the matching calculator

Use this decision sequence

  1. Retain each specified ridge run as a separate required length.
  2. Use the selected cap’s physical and effective exposed lengths.
  3. Round each run under the stated no-reuse model.
  4. Reduce purchases only after checking that leftover pieces can actually cover another run with its specified laps.

Keep the quantities distinct

Quantity or assumptionHow to use it
Combined ridge lengthA continuous quantity total.
Per-run cap orderPreserves separate ends and overlap placement.
Offcut reuseRequires a checked cap-specific plan.

Worked comparison

Two illustrative 1.1 m ridges using caps with 1 m effective exposure each need two positions per run, or four without cut reuse. Dividing their combined 2.2 m by 1 m suggests three but does not prove those pieces can serve both ends under the stated product laps. Physical cap length and permitted cut use must be retained to justify a saving.

Check before using the estimate

Cap overlap and reuse constraints are supplied product details, not recommendations from the length calculator.

All dimensions, product properties, prices and specifications in this example are illustrative arithmetic inputs. Use the values from your measured plan, selected product data sheet and supplier quote. This guide does not choose construction specifications or certify safety.
