MEASUREMENTS AND PURCHASE DECISIONS
Keep special masonry units separate from ordinary packs.
How do supplied special-unit positions change a masonry purchase schedule?
Use the matching calculator
Use this decision sequence
- Start with the total positions in the existing unit layout.
- List each special unit type and required count.
- Subtract special positions once to find ordinary positions.
- Round ordinary and each special type to their own packs.
Keep the quantities distinct
| Quantity or assumption | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Ordinary units | Fill positions not assigned to special types. |
| Special units | Remain independent purchase lines. |
| Total positions | Must not be increased by counting special positions twice. |
Worked comparison
A 100-position layout specifies 15 of special type A and 5 of type B. Ordinary positions are 80, requiring 4 packs of 20. If special packs each hold 5, A needs 3 packs and B needs 1.
Check before using the estimate
Quantity arithmetic does not select lintels, reinforcement or unit strength.
All dimensions, product properties, prices and specifications in this example are illustrative arithmetic inputs. Use the values from your measured plan, selected product data sheet and supplier quote. This guide does not choose construction specifications or certify safety.
