Separate a cylinder wrap rectangle from its circular cap blanks.
Why can lateral surface area alone omit decorative cover material?
Use the matching calculator
Use this decision sequence
- Use the specified cylinder diameter and covered height.
- Add the chosen seam length and upper/lower edge allowances to the flat wrap.
- Count optional circular cap blanks with their own radial allowance.
- Keep blank area separate from actual sheet or roll placement.
Keep the quantities distinct
| Quantity or assumption | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Wrap length | Uses circumference plus the entered seam allowance. |
| Cap diameter | Adds radial allowance at both opposite sides. |
| Net blank area | Does not prove stock placement. |
Worked comparison
For a 1 m diameter and 2 m height cylinder with no entered allowances, the wrap rectangle is π m long and 2 m wide. Two 1 m-diameter circular caps add π/2 m², giving 2.5π ≈ 7.854 m² total blank area. A stock roll still needs enough usable width for the rectangles and circular blanks.
