Equal outer ellipse dimensions with different inner openings: quantity checks.
Identical outside dimensions do not imply equal coated frame area. A smaller opening retains more face area and can change whole-container rounding.
Use the matching calculator
Use this decision sequence
- Write down the common measured requirement before changing an assumption.
- Use chosen product coverage, supplied coat count and actual container volume. Shape, border size and appropriate finish are not chosen by these tools.
- Calculate each permitted scenario independently; do not add alternative orders together.
- Carry the chosen product quantities into your material project and use actual supplier prices.
Keep the quantities distinct
| Quantity or assumption | How to use it |
|---|---|
| First basis | Equal outer ellipse dimensions with different inner openings |
| Second basis | Separate product order |
| Decision boundary | Only the explicitly measured face is coated in this model. Coat count and coverage are supplied, not recommendations. Star faces have non-crossing alternating-radius boundaries; irregular or self-crossing boundaries require another model. |
Worked comparison
For a 2 × 1 m outer ellipse, a concentric 1.6 × 0.6 m opening leaves approximately 0.817 m² face area. A 0.8 × 0.3 m opening leaves approximately 1.382 m². At an illustrative supplied coverage of 1 m²/L for one coat, 0.5 L containers require two and three containers respectively.
Check before using the estimate

All dimensions, product properties, prices and specifications in this example are illustrative arithmetic inputs. Use the values from your measured plan, selected product data sheet and supplier quote. This guide does not choose construction specifications or certify safety.
