How to measure and order: surface preparation consumables.
Which measurements and product data prevent quantity mistakes for this job?
Use the matching calculator
Use this decision sequence
- Measure each separate sanding zone, patch void and protected floor rectangle. Keep preparation passes separate from finish coats.
- Use observed abrasive working area, measured wet filler yield and your selected protection roll dimensions. Consumption rates and overlaps are supplied inputs.
- Run each matching calculation and keep different products as separate purchase items.
- Check whole packs, stock remnants and delivery rounding before placing an order.
Keep the quantities distinct
| Quantity or assumption | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Measured need | Measure each separate sanding zone, patch void and protected floor rectangle. Keep preparation passes separate from finish coats. |
| Product basis | Use observed abrasive working area, measured wet filler yield and your selected protection roll dimensions. Consumption rates and overlaps are supplied inputs. |
| Purchase rounding | Whole packs, rolls and stock lengths can exceed the exact material need. |
Worked comparison
Two 5 m² zones at an observed 2 m² per sheet need three sheets each when partly used sheets do not transfer. Six sheets bought in packs of five require two packs. Pooling the same 10 m² needs five sheets, or one pack, only if the same abrasive can be used across both zones.
Check before using the estimate
Observed sheet life is not a universal sanding rate. Do not pool different grit, material contamination or incompatible finishes.
All dimensions, product properties, prices and specifications in this example are illustrative arithmetic inputs. Use the values from your measured plan, selected product data sheet and supplier quote. This guide does not choose construction specifications or certify safety.
