Wallpaper Rolls calculator.
Count full-height wallpaper drops with pattern repeat, trim and matching allowance.
Your inputs
Measurement schematic, not to scale. Use your own dimensions and product specification.
Use measurements from your plan and properties from your chosen product. Any prefilled values are illustrative.

Formula and assumptions
How this calculation works.
Required strips round up across each wall. Cut length rounds up to a whole pattern repeat; half-drop mode includes a half-repeat offset before rounding. Equal cut lengths pool together.
A worked example
Illustrative inputs only. Product properties and design dimensions are not recommendations for your project.
- Roll width
- 0.5 m
- Roll length
- 10 m
- Pattern repeat
- 300 mm
- Extra length per drop
- 200 mm
- Pattern match
- Straight / no offset
- Waste allowance
- 0 %
- Wall width
- 4 m
- Wall height
- 2.5 m
Wallpaper rolls to purchase: 3 rolls
Rolls for different cut heights are kept separate. Mixed-height offcut reuse and door/window deductions are not optimised.
Drops and pattern matching matter more than wall area alone
A roll is divided into full-height drops. Pattern repeat, trimming and matching can consume length that an area-only estimate overlooks.
- Measure each wall height and length, including changes in height.
- Use the roll’s usable width and length and the stated matching pattern.
- Do not assume offcuts cover another full-height drop. Review the drop calculation before buying.
What changes when one measurement changes?
Using the worked example above, change only wall height from 2.5 to 3.2m. Product specifications and all other inputs stay the same.
Wallpaper rolls to purchase: 3 → 4rolls
Both results are computed by the same current calculator engine. These are illustrative dimensions, not material or design recommendations.

The method uses your dimensions and supplied product properties. Software tests check arithmetic examples and validation; this does not establish professional review of a design. Read the calculation policy.
Before you purchase
Use dimensions from your plan and properties from your chosen product. Any design spacing, section or fixing pattern must already be specified.
For offset patterns, confirm the manufacturer’s matching instruction and enter any additional trim.
