Order sod from full strip cuts.
When does a strip schedule need more rolls than an area-only estimate?
Use the matching calculator
Use this decision sequence
- Choose a supplied strip orientation and roll width.
- Group identical strip lengths and counts.
- Round each strip to full roll lengths if offcuts are not reused.
- Show installed area and offcut area separately before adding extra whole rolls.
Keep the quantities distinct
| Quantity or assumption | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Area-only purchase | Assumes roll area can be freely rearranged. |
| Fixed strip cuts | Round each strip independently. |
| Offcut reuse | Requires a separate feasible cut plan. |
Worked comparison
Three strips each 3 m long use rolls 2 m long and 0.5 m wide. Each strip needs 2 rolls, so the order is 6. Installed area is 4.5 m² and purchased area is 6 m²; the 1.5 m² difference is offcuts under this layout.
Check before using the estimate
Do not assume a leftover short roll can replace a full-length strip without a changed layout.
