MEASUREMENTS AND PURCHASE DECISIONS

Keep first-emitter offset in a specified dripline takeoff.

Does a run’s start coincide with an emitter position?

Use the matching calculator

Use this decision sequence

  1. Use run lengths and emitter pitch from the selected product and layout.
  2. Locate the first emitter relative to the start of each run.
  3. Count positions at that offset plus whole pitch intervals that still fit the run.
  4. Add headers and separate cut allowances to tubing length without treating them as emitted watering coverage.

Keep the quantities distinct

Quantity or assumptionHow to use it
Emitter pitchA supplied product/layout parameter.
First offsetChanges positions at the run boundaries.
Header lengthTubing quantity, not another repeated emitter run.

Worked comparison

An illustrative 4 m run with 1 m emitter pitch and first emitter 0.5 m from its start has positions at 0.5, 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5 m: four. Starting at zero would produce five positions including one at 4 m. Three runs with 0.5 m extra tube each plus a 2 m header require 15.5 m of tubing.

Check before using the estimate

No emitter rate, placement, pressure, irrigation demand or hydraulic sufficiency is selected.

All dimensions, product properties, prices and specifications in this example are illustrative arithmetic inputs. Use the values from your measured plan, selected product data sheet and supplier quote. This guide does not choose construction specifications or certify safety.
