Read between-sides dimensions in a drawer panel list.
Does an outside width belong on a front cut that fits between side panels?
Use the matching calculator
Use this decision sequence
- Confirm the stated model uses full-depth sides and fronts between them.
- Deduct two side thicknesses from outside width to obtain front and back widths.
- Deduct the applied bottom thickness from outside height to obtain side height.
- Keep net panel area separate from whole-sheet purchase and nesting losses.
Keep the quantities distinct
| Quantity or assumption | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Outside box width | Includes both side thicknesses. |
| Between-sides front width | Outside width minus two side thicknesses. |
| Applied bottom | Consumes part of the outside height in this specified arrangement. |
Worked comparison
In an illustrative 1×1×1 m outside box with 0.1 m side thickness and 0.1 m applied bottom, side height is 0.9 m and front/back width is 0.8 m. Net area is 2×1×0.9 + 2×0.8×0.9 + 1×1 = 4.24 m². Entering the full outside dimensions for every panel would misstate the cut list.
Check before using the estimate
Different joinery, inset bottoms or hardware clearances need their own supplied drawing; no construction arrangement is recommended.
All dimensions, product properties, prices and specifications in this example are illustrative arithmetic inputs. Use the values from your measured plan, selected product data sheet and supplier quote. This guide does not choose construction specifications or certify safety.
