Subtract shared face reveals before dividing drawer fronts.
Why can dividing cabinet height by drawer count make the fronts too tall?
Use the matching calculator
Use this decision sequence
- Use the total decorative face height, not the internal drawer box height.
- Subtract the separately specified top and bottom reveals.
- Subtract one gap for every adjacent pair of fronts.
- Divide the remaining height among equal fronts and keep hardware sizing separate.
Keep the quantities distinct
| Quantity or assumption | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Four equal fronts | Have three intervening gaps. |
| Outside reveals | Are deducted at the top and bottom once. |
| Internal drawer clearance | Is a different dimension from a decorative face reveal. |
Worked comparison
A 1 m face with 10 mm top reveal, 10 mm bottom reveal and three 20 mm gaps leaves 0.92 m for four fronts. Each front is 0.23 m high. A 0.6 m overall width with 10 mm reveal at each side gives a 0.58 m front width, independently of the internal drawer box size.
